TAKE PART ON WHAT’S BOUND TO BECOME AN INSTITUTION: THE ANCIENT GREEK DRAMA FESTIVAL!

We are delighted to announce that the 2nd Ancient Drama Festival will be held February 22-March 10 2013, at the Hellenic Cultural Center in New York, and the application process has commenced.

Our main objective remains constant: to provide a platform for emerging, as well as established artists, to show their work while ensuring that the spirit of the classical Greek civilization remains alive.

The festival will allow individual actors, theater groups, directors, producers, musicians and choreographers to perform a piece of ancient Greek drama not only to a US audience, but also to artists and lovers of the genre from across the globe. Moreover, their exposure to the audiences of Greece and Cyprus could even lead to them showcasing their work there.

We do hope to create an environment that fosters the exchange of ideas and allows for fresh, innovative perspectives on this most timeless tradition of the ancient Greek drama. Participating artists will have the opportunity to forge connections that could lead to potential collaborations.

The cherry on top is that the 3 winning participants will have their shows produced at a prestigious off-Broadway theater, an honor for any artist.

The application deadline is January the 20th. You will find rules and advice in the relevant section of this blog. We very much look forward to seeing your work.

For more information visit our blog http://ancientdramafestival.blogspot.com. If you have any questions do not hesitate to send us an email at ancientdramafestivalny@gmail.com.

P.S. We would like to clarify that actors who would like to perform solo may by all means do so; they do not have to be part of a theater group in order to participate in the festival. What we ask of you when applying is to prepare a 15-25 minute monologue of an ancient Greek tragedy or comedy of your choice (your own adaptations welcome) and submit a video of your performance.
